Indian Wedding

Traditional Indian weeding is a very bright event with full of rituals, cultures, lot of joy and various types of customs and traditions followed by the whole family that continues several days. Mostly marriages are arranged in Indian but some marriages in the urban areas have love marriage.

The Indian wedding is about the two families which are getting evolved socially and the mix-up of two unknown souls which live together for their whole life and it is said for the bride and the groom that their relation is created in the heaven by the God. The traditions of the Indian wedding are different across religion, caste, ethnically, language, region etc.

There are various arrangements are covered in the traditional Indian wedding that are structured into pre-wedding ceremonies, wedding day ceremonies like as welcome of Baraat, Vermala, Phere and the vidaai.

Engagement ceremony :Engagement ceremony is celebrated before few months or day of the marriage, when the groom's family come to the bride's venue with various gifts for the groom for the good luck that contains sweets and gifts for the groom and her family.
This is a short ceremony for the promise between two families and gift, ring for the bride and the groom exchanged with each other families.

Pre Wedding Ceremony :
Various pre-wedding ceremony are also enjoyed in India have its own importance and pride among the Indians.

Mahandi : Before the one day of the wedding, bride is decorated by Mahandi applied on the feet and on the hands. Female friends are also invited to have their hands adorned.

Sangeet Sandhya : The musical entertaining evening is known as the Sangeet Sandhya arranged by the bride's family in the presence of the both families of the bide and the groom with the friends and the relatives.

Griha Shanti Puja :  The puja that is organized by both the families through a Pandit with the date and time chosen based on the horoscopes of both the bride and the groom and is conducted prayer for the bride and groom's happy marriage life.

Wedding Day : This is the main day for both the families and celebrated by both with the friends and the relatives. It is organized on the house of the bride. Various types of traditional things are applied on the bride and the groom. It is a long and labored ceremony, in which every step embedded in tradition, suggesting various aspects of life that are to pursue after the marriage.

Baraat and Swagat :Baraat that is the combination of the friends and the relatives of the groom's family leaves their house for going to the bride house. The groom goes on the horse with the friends and the relatives. When the baraat reaches at the door of the bride's home, parents, friends and the relatives of the bride performed a warm welcome of the Baraat and took them inside the house.

Kanya Dan :  Kanya Dan is performed by the father of the bride in the presence of the large gathering that is invited to witness the wedding. This is completed by giving gold jewellery or gift by all family members and relatives to the couple to wish them good luck.

Mangalphera : Seven phere is normally followed by the traditional Indian families which are as follows, Seven step represents a marital vow:

First: To respect and honour each other
Second: To share each other's joy and sorrow
Third: To faith and be devoted to each other
Fourth: To develop admiration for knowledge, values, sacrifice and service
Fifth: To reconfirm their vow of purity, love, family duties and spiritual growth
Sixth: To follow values of Dharma (morality) and
Seventh: To develop constant bond of friendship and love.

Vidaai : It is the most emotional traditional ritual, when the bride leaves her parent’s house and goes to the groom's house with his friends and the relatives with full of tears in her eyes and got a tearful farewell.

After the completion of the wedding various post wedding ceremonies are completed.

Various traditional post wedding rituals are performed after the completion of the ceremony of the wedding day like as Graha Pravesha, Talambra, Dhruva Darshan etc.
