Rich heritage and the culture of the India are diverse and different but present the best example of the unity in front of everyone. The music and the dance of India played a very important role in this unity. Music and dance of the India is very popular on the world stage and got its pride and unique identification behalf of its presentation and remarkable role. It can be explored in the tradition, culture and heritage of India. The classical music of India is one of the unforgettable and unbreakable music traditions in the world, who devotes a lead role in the development of the Indian classical music.

The advent of the modern and ancient cultural research provides good aspects in this field. It can be realized that the Indian music has been developed in very complex interactions among various peoples and various cultures and one can see the shadow of that on the Indian music. Sangeet is the basic for the Indian music and it is created via three art-forms like as vocal music, instrumental music and dance. In now a days these three different art-forms has been classified into complex and highly refined individual art-forms. Modern music is followed basically on two important aspects and that is Rag and Tal. Rag is firmly inspired with the western music whereas Tal - a rhythmic form is very complex and various patterns exist there.
Indian music is a collection of various varieties like as Folk, Popular, Pop and classical music, whereas classical music is a blend of Carnetic and Hindustani Music and holds a glorious history for its development. The soul of the Indian music and the cultural look lies in the Folk music - the music of the masses which provides a glorious glimpse in front of your eyes in various varieties and different styles and presented on the various events and occasions. There are different types of folk music followed by the Indian such as - Bhavageete, Bhangra, Lavani, Dandiya, Rajasthani, Bauls of Bengal etc. Various musical instruments are used in Indian music to elaborate with the rhythm; some of them are discussed below-

Sitar : Sitar, a prime element of Indian music, is the most popular string musical instrument in India due to its best accompaniment to singing.

Sarod : Formed in a carve by the well seasoned teakwood covered with the goat skin is another string musical instrument of India.

Tanpura : Well known for its rich sound with three main styles, Miraj style, Tanjore style and in also a small instrumental version often called a tamburi, has four srting tuned to the tonic.

Vichitra Veena : Vichitra veena is an Indian musical instrument without no frets and look just like a rudra veena and it is played with a slide like the guitar.

There are also other musical popular instrument are used in the Indian music and all that have their historical background and importance in the Indian music. Other Indian musical instruments are like – Sarangi, Esraj, Santoor, Violin, Tabla, Pakhawaj, Dholak, Pung, Flute, shehnai etc.

Various types of dances are popular in India, some of them are well known on the world stage and has its own pride gained by glorious activities. Folk dances, in where there is not need of any special postures, but they are organized occasionally for sharing there joy. Some of other Indian dances are described below-

Bharatanatyam : Famous and well played with various postures with pure rhythm, rendering a story dramatically, is originating in Tamilnadu. It is performed only in the temples by the dancers and all the gestures and mudras are purely learned by the dancers.

Mohiniyattam :  The first word of the name 'Mohini' means a maiden who exerts desire and disolve the heart of the onlooker. Behind there is a well know story Lord Vishnu taking on the guise of a 'Mohini' to the enthrall people for destroying the devil Bhasmasura. It’s a female semi classic dance form of Kerala.

Kathak : Originated in the north with the influence of the Mughal tradition and it has a distinct Hindu-Muslim texture. The word ‘Kathak’ is drived from the word ‘katha’ means a storyteller. It has an exciting and entertaining quality with the fine footwork and rapid pirouettes.

Manipuri :Manipuri, well saved with its ancient tradition and culture in the beautiful valley, is an art of men, women and child in Manipur. They worship the Lord Vishnu and it evolves around the episode of the life of Lord Vishnu. The Rass and Sanskirtan are musically played on the different times of the year by the community as a whole.

There are other famous dances are popularized in India other than the above most popular dances like – Odissi, Chakiarkoothu, Chhau etc and some famous folk dances are Ruk Mar Nacha, Purulia Chhau, Rangoli Bihu, Singhi Chham, Karma, Cheraw Dance, Hojagiri, Bardo Chham, Chang Lo, Lahoo and Thang Ta in the east.
